San Francisco (February 6, 2023) - Climate change risk data company ClimateCheck has partnered with leading location intelligence provider Local Logic to provide climate risk data to Local Logic customers in Canada.
Local Logic clients Sotheby's International Realty Canada, Royal LePage, and REW.ca are among the first listing portals in Canada to add ClimateCheck’s data to their property listings. ClimateCheck data already appears on US-based listing portals RedFin and Movoto. The company’s data is also utilized by global consulting and analytics firms AEI, KPMG, and Black Knight, among others.
“We are excited to offer the first complete climate risk assessment data to our Canadian customers, satisfying pent-up demand from our residential real estate partners," said Vincent-Charles Hodder, co-founder and CEO of Local Logic. "Climate change is transforming the real estate landscape, introducing new and costly levels of physical risk to property. Home seekers can now assess an area's risk for climate-related disasters and, using our suite of location insights, make more informed decisions about where to buy and how to mitigate risks from climate change.”
ClimateCheck offers a 1-100 rating for properties across the U.S., based on their future risk of climate-related hazards, with a higher rating indicating that climate change is likely to negatively impact that home. The rating is based on two factors — future risk and how much the risk level will change over time. ClimateCheck covers five hazards: heat, storm, fire, drought and flood.
“Combining ClimateCheck’s granular climate risk data with Local Logic’s location intelligence insights helps real estate brokers, investors, and consumers alike understand how intensifying hazards like flood and fire might affect their properties in the future,” said Cal Inman, CEO of ClimateCheck. “This knowledge empowers them to make smarter decisions about where they buy property, and how they maintain or improve property to guard against mounting risks.”
